Clearing up a clearing-up issue at Dublin Airport

My recent Blog about the awful state of the public seating area surrounding (not inside) the Starbucks at Dublin Airport T1 hopefully struck a chord.

In the interest of fairness though, I feel obliged to publish a note on the Blog received from Nick Inkster, SSP’s CEO Nordics and Spain.

It reads: “Just a point on your recent (excellent as usual) article on Marqette/Starbucks: we operate the Starbucks, but the seating area surrounding it is actually the responsibility of the DAA as far as cleaning and table clearing is concerned.

“Our local management have raised it with them, but I didn’t want you to think we were asleep on the job!!”

We know that Nick. Point well made and hopefully the DAA has addressed the issue, as not only SSP/Starbucks but also the airport itself suffer from such a situation. Every business has bad days and this may have been one of them. But food & beverage is simply too important from an airport reputational (and revenue-generating) perspective to be let down in this fashion.
