Warm thanks to all those industry golfers who participated in the 2010 Moodie International Superstars Honorary Invitation Tournament (the ‘MIS-HIT’) at the Cannes duty free show last October.
As reported in an earlier Blog, I was unable to host the tournament due to my recovery from treatment for stomach cancer at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
In my absence a group of the players suggested that it would be appropriate to organize an informal fund-raiser during the MIS-HIT, resulting in a cheque for £1,739.82 (US$2,875) being handed over to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity – Centre for Children and Young People.
Acknowledging the funding this week, Amanda Heaton of the charity wrote to us: “Please convey our special thanks to all those who so generously contributed to this marvellous sum as this donation will go towards creating a special area, specifically for teenagers, enabling them to have their own space when they’re having their chemotherapy and even play computer games when they are feeling well. It will also be a place where they can hang out and feel like teenagers.”
Nice sentiments. And a fine cause. Sometimes even mis-hits strike their target.
