No, not that one…South Africa are still world champions of the 15-man game, but the All Blacks have finally got their hands on some silverware – the Travel Retail All Blacks, that is. The ABs won a series of close-fought contests with three other teams to capture the inaugural Travel Retail Touch Rugby Sevens tournament, held yesterday at the Stade des Hesperides in Cannes.
Organised by Alan Edwards and Pierre Lequeux, the event attracted over 50 participants, both men and women, and looks set to be a fixture at Cannes for years to come. The tournament also raised over €800 for the Smile Train charity through shirt sales to players.
Alan Edwards said: “We had a terrific day, and importantly we had good participation from women as well as men, and everyone had a lot of fun. And in doing so, we also helped to boost the Smile Train fund.” Edwards also thanked the sponsors who were: MCM, Scorpio Distributors, Radcliffe
