The Moodie Report is in Singapore, where later today a major launch involving an airport, a brand, a retailer and a charity takes place.
All is embargoed for now but I can tell you the excitement is building here for what amounts to a very special launch indeed.
The Moodie Report has been asked to provide exclusive coverage of the event – and we may even play a small role in it.
Exciting times.
I arrived here yesterday evening after the long flight from London Heathrow. It’s always such a pleasure to arrive into the order, calm and excellence of Changi Airport.
I left Heathrow (where one cannot help but notice how the T4 liquor store has completely lost the edge that it once enjoyed – the shop is now very cluttered and messy and the sightlines nowhere near as clean as they used to be; and what oh what has happened to Chocolate Box – pictured below?) straight from the Airline Retail Conference (ARC), organised by Max Williams’ Ultramarine Partnership.
Besides being an excellent event, ARC underlined the incredible generosity of our industry as around US$25,000 was raised at the conference dinner for The Smile Train cleft charity – enough to fund 100 operations on children.
Times may be tough but hearts remain warm in our business. Well done Max and your team, ARC and auctioneer David Spillane (below, prowling the floor and accepting bids from anyone who even twitches) – a man who resembles Graham Norton on speed and whose own heart may just be bigger than his native Ireland.
