If you think it’s tough work completing a 10k fun run, then it’s clearly even tougher being one of the race marshalls.
At the Miles for Smiles ‘fun run’ at the weekend in Dubai, The Moodie Blog’s exclusive sponsor, Mars International Travel Retail International Consultant Stuart Bull, was obviously finding the workload draining.
Time and again he had to reach for sustenance, in the form of one of the excellent ice-creams that Mars had kindly provided for the occasion.
Here he munches contentedly on a nice chocolate and vanilla variety as he contemplates the energy being exerted by The Smile Train’s Priscilla Ma battling through the 5k mark…
Below, Stuart’s just coming to the end of a caramel version as he and fellow marshalls Sunil Tuli and Karan Tuli offer sympathy and encouragement to a clearly distressed Jonathan Holland of Jonathan Holland & Associates…
Here he’s just starting out on a nice, fresh, Jewels ice-cream, to help drive Diageo’s Tim Rycroft and Pernod Ricard’s David Freeborn around the bend…
And here he quickly polishes off a double chocolate version before it melts as he, Sunil Tuli and David Spillane admire a latex-wearing Spiderman nearing the finish…
Below Stuart prepares to take his last bite as The Moodie Report’s Dermot Davitt (in his only 007 appearance) seems to be taking his last breath…
And finally… Stuart, accompanied by a beer-drinking David Spillane, skilfully uses a half-eaten ice-cream to point a flying Alan ‘Taffy’ Edwards towards the finishing line…
Applications are now being accepted for marshalls at next year’s event. Interested parties are urged to apply early as the position is likely to be heavily over-subscribed.
