Origins lights the way with Mega-Bright

We could all do with a little more enlightenment in life, and Origins did its best to oblige last week, at the London launch of its new skin care treatment, Dr Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Bright Skin Tone Correcting Serum.

The event took place at Paramount at Centre Point, an appropriately light and bright location which afforded the international media present some truly glorious views of the city.

The start of the interactive sensorial experience at the Origins Mega-Bright launch

The launch itself kicked off with an innovative interactive experience that encompassed all five senses – taste, sight, smell, sound and touch – in line with Dr Weil’s integrative approach to health and beauty.

We began by sampling various different foodstuffs (chocolate for breakfast, we SO approve) before moving on to smell, the sense which is, of course, intrinsically linked with emotion and memory. After feasting our eyes on gloriously soothing images of turquoise oceans, we entered the Soundscape, described as a “one-minute discovery of sound that will take you on a journey from frazzled to calm”. Hmm, if only we could have brought that one home. The experience concluded with a blissfully relaxing mini-facial/massage.

That sensorial pathway was created to illustrate the idea that inflammation can cause skin discoloration – and that stress can cause inflammation. “I believe that women in particular, who pride themselves on their ability to multi-task, are suffering simultaneously from sensory overload and sensory deprivation,” noted Dr Tieraona Low Dog, Fellowship Director for the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. “Multi-tasking stresses the brain in ways that many scientists now think is unhealthy.”

So forget “Blackberry thumb”. Overdosing on my iPhone, while concurrently trying to think of a headline, cook dinner, help the kids with their homework, acknowledge existence of spouse AND plan what shoes to buy next is actually ruining my skin. (And apparently the gin ain’t helping either. Damn.)

Luckily, help is at hand in the form of Mega-Bright, which according to Origins has been clinically proven to instantly brighten skin and improve clarity and radiance, fighting both the cause of skin discoloration, while simultaneously combating the existing visible signs (dark spots, uneven skin tone) and preventing future development.

In other words ladies, leave the multi-tasking to your skin care, and sit down and smell the roses. Your face will thank you for it.
