I’m at Incheon International Airport in the Asiana Airlines Lounge, just before my long flight to London. Time is short so I’ll keep this Blog similarly brief. Anyway, it doesn’t need words. The pictures tell the story. This is the reality of the daigou business 2018-style. A repacking frenzy at the airport as daigou traders pick up their downtown purchases of international duty free brands (mainly skincare and colour cosmetics) and repack hurriedly before flying to China where the goods will be resold.
Incheon International Airport Corporation now has to employ full-time assistants to manage the mess in the repacking areas. Extraordinary scenes. I didn’t believe you could get so many cosmetics items into one small wheelie case. But never underestimate the ingenuity of the daigou, nor the sheer power of money.
