There were toasts aplenty at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Dubai last night as Andrew Ford, DFS’s popular Vice President, Business Development, celebrated 50 years existence on planet earth among industry friends and with his wife Tina Tam.

At the behest of Abu Dhabi Airports Company Vice President for Non-Aeronautical Revenues and Business Development Dan Cappell (below), each of the 12 guests had to propose a toast to Andrew. These ranged from the poignant to the unprintable but all at some point focused on his generosity of spirit and effervescent character.

As always Andrew lit up a trademark Habanos or two, competing in smoke signal language with Harry ‘the real Diehl’ directly opposite.

His other passion, fine red wine, flowed freely as guests enjoyed some vintage Bordeaux to accompany the distinctly vintage Ford.
