From Neil Towns, Head of Buying at P&O Ferries, comes news that he has smashed his recent charity fund-raising target – and had a unique, albeit painful, beauty treatment in the process.
On 18 July Neil is taking part in a 105 mile stage of the Tour De France in the Pyrenees. The ride this year takes in three mountains, running from Pau to the top of the Col du Tourmalet, via the Col du Marie Blanque and the Col du Soulor.
Neil, one of the nicest guys in our business, is raising funds for Cancer Research UK, in loving memory of Ade Dukes (husband of one of Neil’s best friends Helen), who passed away recently. Helen has a three-year old daughter Lottie who is now without her Dad.
Neil set a target of £2,000. So far he’s reached £2,085.00 and there’s no reason he can’t keep climbing – just as he will later this month.
As our picture shows, Neil also honoured his pledge to have his legs waxed by the beauty salon team (Rachel and Laura, pictured) on the Pride of Bilbao if he could raise £200 by 15 June – a threshold he raced past. “I now have a pair of supremely smooth legs, which are slowly returning to a pain free state! It would be fair to say leg waxing smarts a little,” notes Neil.
