Members of the Women in Travel (WiT) networking group met bright and early this morning at the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas, in Orlando. The well-attended 7.15 am breakfast meet and greet was hosted by Travel Markets Insider Editor Lois Pasternak and Christine Deussen, President of Deussen Global Communications.
“Consider this a network,” noted Pasternak, as she welcomed a host of first-time attendees. “Consider this a group of friends; use the contacts.”
Pasternak paid generous tribute to the Glorious WiT for Haiti team – headed by captain Virginie Cordero – who recently ran in the Moodie Multi-National Marathon, a charity event created to raise funds for Hand in Hand for Haiti. “That fantastic effort really epitomises what WiT is all about,” she declared.
The charity raffle in full swing
The breakfast included a luxury brand grand raffle, featuring products generously donated by the industry. This raised over US$1,300 for the Hand in Hand for Haiti charity.
Among the prizes on offer was a page of advertising in The Latin America Report E-Magazine, kindly donated by Wendy Gallagher. That particular prize was won by, of all people, The Moodie Report Associate Editor Rebecca Mann, to the delight of the entire gathering. It was very tempting, but we did the honourable thing and instructed the prize to be re-drawn.
Congratulations to the organisers for putting together such an enjoyable and worthy event.
