One of the nicest, most tasteful stand-alone stores The Moodie BLOG has encountered in recent times is at Madrid Barajas Airport.
It’s an absolutely delightful Carolina Herrera store that lives up to the designer’s oft-stated motto ‘True style knows no boundaries or generations’.
Where so much airport retail is loud and unsubtle, this store is understatement epitomised. Wooden floors, deep burgundy light shades, books on the shelves and pictures on the wall. “It’s like being in someone’s home,” said a leading luxury supplier who I bumped into, also admiring the same store.
The merchandising is similarly elegant and chic. Note the father walking his baby outside the shop and admiring the display. Sure enough he entered the store and bought.
The Carolina Herrera store is just yards away from Aldeasa’s thriving three-pronged duty free offer – The Shop, Fashion & Fun and Les Boutiques. It’s a perfect complement to the more all-encompassing and traditional travel retail offer.
