A fitting memorial for Danny Galvin

The family of Danny Galvin, the hugely popular CTC-ARI Airports General Manager who lost his life in a car crash in Cyprus last May, is planning a memorial service and charity golf day in Ireland to mark the anniversary of his death.

The outpouring of grief across the industry, and the many tributes that flooded into The Moodie Report at the news, underlined the high esteem in which Danny was held right across the travel retail world.

The event this coming May looks sure to attract a strong gathering of Danny’s family, friends and colleagues from Aer Rianta International – and to stand as a fitting memorial to his life.

The weekend’s itinerary will begin with a memorial Mass in St Columba’s Church, Douglas, Cork, at 10am on Saturday, 26 May (the anniversary is the previous day). From 2pm there will be a charity golf outing for up to 40 golfers at Fota Island Golf Resort in Cork. Later that evening the family will host a prize-giving ceremony, with an event for both golfers and non-golfers.

The family has also arranged a hotel rate in the Maryborough Hotel and Spa, Douglas, Cork, for the weekend, for anyone who wishes to travel.
