Meet travel retail’s first bionic Bull.
Stuart Bull, long-time International Consultant for Mars International Travel Retail, is now back on his feet after what he describes as a ‘bi-lateral knee replacement’.
In confectionery terms, both the Bull knees, worn out after his younger-day exertions as a marathon runner (at which he was highly adept) and subsequent relentless globe-trotting as arguably the most-travelled confectionery salesman on the planet, were past their sell-by date.
Both had to go, to be replaced by new ceramic versions, produced by Smith & Nephew (apparently Stuart considered Royal Doulton but they came with teacups, which would have made walking uncomfortable).
The surgery took place a few weeks ago but you can’t keep a good Bull down, and Stuart duly popped in today to The Moodie Report’s new HQ (our first visitor) to demonstrate his full recovery.
Stuart has now left his Mars role but he certainly has not left the industry. He knows more about duty free confectionery than anyone I know and you can rest assured that he will be a force in the business for a long time to come. Look out for a bionic, ceramic confectionery man coming to a duty free shop near you soon.
Good to read that your back on your feet me old china !
