News that L’Oreal Produits de Luxe International Travel Retail boss Vincent Boinay is leaving to head the company’s Japanese market division is a real blow to this channel.
He is to take up a new domestic role within the group, as Luxury Products Division Managing Director Japan.
Vincent took over his current role in 2005 with the seemingly impossible task of filling the shoes of long-time incumbent Eric Lauzat. That he did it so well and so seamlessly is to the eternal credit of the popular and hugely respected Frenchman.
Travel retail’s loss is, of course, Japan’s gain and The Moodie Report wishes Vincent well in his new endeavours. Two and a half years in the channel is not long but already he had made a significant impact with his clarity of thought and vision for what could be acheived in the channel. In our view he is also a man of great integrity and grace.
Now it’s over to new man Eric Tarral, currently the head of the division’s Italian business. For the second time in rapid succession, the new man at the travel retail helm of one of the sector’s most influential players has a class act to follow.
