Gebr Heinemann’s fragrances offer and merchandising at Frankfurt Airport has always been attractive. In fact it proved just too attractive for two members of the Ukrainian women’s national wrestling team this month. Store detectives – brave men indeed – caught the pair of athletes trying to steal €2,000 euros worth of fragrances during a stopover in the German city, police announced last week. The wrestlers were en route to Guangzhou for the world championships when the incident occurred on Tuesday evening. “Handcuffing them must have been a painful job,” reported Deutsche Well.

Perhaps the two were simply confused by recent security constraints on duty free purchases. After all they may just have been trying to put their purchases in the hold. Whatever their motivation, security’s swift action prevented what may have been some of the most fragrant women’s wrestling matches ever. Would the Ukrainians’ opponents have come to grips with the Allure of the Chanel-wearing wrestler? Or would they have been rendered scents-less? Sadly we will never know.
