Lady Million Dresses for Success

The fragrance launch season is still in full swing, and The Moodie Report was back in Paris recently, for the hotly-anticipated launch of Lady Million, the feminine counterpart to the hugely successful Paco Rabanne 1 Million men’s fragrance.

As befits the fragrance concept, Puig pulled out all the stops for this event, which featured a special installation complete with vintage Paco Rabanne dresses, a gold-coloured catwalk and the signature 1 Million safe.

The lucky winner of the Raco Rabanne dress

The evening event was held at the hip and happening, uber-exclusive VIP Room nightclub, which sported a wall of 1 Million gold ingots, and a gold-coloured safe. On arrival, guests were invited to draw a gold raffle ticket – the prize for which was an exquisite replica of the silver Paco Rabanne dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Two for the Road.

Reader, we have never coveted anything – even the latest Louboutins – as much. The dress, displayed on a mannequin, was right next to The Moodie Report’s table, positively taunting us with its unobtainable loveliness.

The dress that got away…

When the time came for the draw, we closed our eyes and willed the right number to come out. Alas – denied by the fickle finger of fate! The dress was won by an ecstatic journalist from the Netherlands, whose shriek of delight could no doubt be heard on the dance floor below (and was matched only by this writer‘s wail of despair).

Pah! We had the shoes to match and had already planned where to wear it first (the Opening Cocktail at Cannes, as it happens). Puig kindly allowed a consolation photo next to the dress instead. As for those reports that I had to be forcibly separated from it afterwards? Hmmm, no comment…
