News reaches The Moodie Blog of an epic endurance feat in progress by Dubai Duty Free Manager – Operations Sean Staunton.
Within a period of four months the popular Irishman is running four marathons across four continents. That’s a total of 168km and it’s all in a good cause – to raise funds for travel retail industry charity Hand in Hand for Haiti.
So far Sean has completed the Barcelona and (below) Borneo marathons. To follow he will run with the Maasai tribes through the Laikipia plateau in the beautiful Kenyan wilderness. Lastly he plans to “samba” through the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Here’s an update from the man himself: “On 1st May I completed my second marathon as part of my ‘4 marathons 4 continents 4 months’ fundraising campaign for Hand in Hand for Haiti. It was a very pleasant but tough run as it was 29 degrees and very humid at the 4am start. 351 runners completed the run with 50% of these above 40 years of age.
“My next run in June gives me a once in a life time opportunity to live and run with the Maasai tribe in the Laikipia plateau at the foothills of Mt. Kenya. A number of Maasai tribe warriors will also run this trail race. Three weeks after Kenya, I will complete my journey by running through Rio de Janeiro.”
